What We Do

Student Career Assessment

Choosing a career path is one of the most important decisions that students face today. Many students receive degrees in declining growth fields or fields with a surplus of applicants and cannot find employment after graduation. A wise choice can lead to rewarding occupational experiences, opportunity for personal growth and the security of adequate income. It will also allow the family to maximize their educational investment in the student.

Many of our students start with us as freshmen in high school and they certainly change their minds regarding careers during these high school years. Working with specialized programs our students have a better understanding of their interests, skills and special talents. Our program provides many possibilities for students to consider in their career assessment. Sometimes a student may discover what he/she doesn't want to do in their future career. We are happy even when the sorting process discovers the negative side; it still moves the student closer to a future career path.

Student Positioning Assessment

Understanding the importance of student positioning is one of strongest areas in which we help students. Colleges seek students who have not only mastered their high school curriculum and scored appropriately on their national tests; they want students who are also good citizens. Our goal is to help students find their special niche so they can develop leadership skills and compassion within a community service activity. Having a passion for music, a sport, a unique hobby, computers, marching band, or sundry other possibilities are also to be promoted. These are all steps in the maturity process for a high school student and colleges are very interested in this aspect of each student's growth. We help direct our students so they are comfortable with their choices and maximize their time with community service, extracurricular activities and leadership opportunities.

School Recommendations

There are thousands of public and private colleges out there – but the average person has no idea that many private schools can end up costing less than a public. Based on your assessment, your interview, and your financial position, we can recommend certain private colleges that may better suit your child’s academic goals, and cost you less!

EFC Calculations

We offer a solid estimate of what the college “expects” you to pay. When you work with us you will also learn what you can legally do to put your financials in the best position for a college to offer your child financial aid.

Grants & Scholarships

Students and parents spend countless hours searching and applying for free private college scholarships. They locate the sources, get together their recommendation letters, write essays and meet deadlines; yet private-sector scholarships make up only about 2% of the college funding awarded annually. You waste valuable time and energy going after crumbs. We help you go after the best and most abundant kinds of scholarships, such as college need-based scholarships, merit based scholarships, and tuition discounts.

College Loan Analysis

We provide you with a comprehensive loan analysis to insure that you receive the best possible loan available and we provide assistance in filling out and submitting all required loan paperwork and forms.

Award Estimates

Colleges must publish their average financial aid packages and we have access to those publications. We can show you how well any college in the country will they treat your students financially.

College Cash Flow Planning

The truth is… you’re going to have to pay something to send your child to college. However, there are little-known opportunities that can save you thousands in interest payments, fees, taxes, and cash flow. This is where we shine and give you the best return on your college investment.

The College Choice Card

Selecting and sorting through the thousands of college options is not an easy process and we take many criteria into consideration in helping the students and parents in this most difficult process. As the process reaches the final stage, there will be a minimum of 2 schools in the safety net category, 2 - 4 in the comfort level and then as many as the student wishes in the stretch level.

SAT and ACT Preparation

Practicing our famous salami method of studying, we show students how to study in small increments...or thin slices. We start with reading suggestions for as young as 8th grade and 9th grade. We add other thin slices as the student progresses in high school. Using some of the best internet sites for studying, we promote a program of consistent, but low stress, study methods.

Special Clinics

Interactive, positive learning environments have been created through our special clinics for parents and students. Click here for more details on clinics such as Financial Aid Workshop, Camp College for Students, SAT I Writing Prep, Write it Right!, Navigating the Application Process, Everything But the Kitchen Sink Workshop, and more.

Academic Consulting

For students beginning our program when they are in 9th or 10th grade, we provide academic consultation with their high school curriculum as well as consultation on their non-academic activities. School transcripts are checked each year for any errors. Parents appreciate the care that their students are provided with curriculum choices and feedback. We do not tutor, but we do provide special clinics in areas designed to help with college admission.

The Application Template and Resumé

As the student's junior year in high school is concluding, we have each student complete our Application Template. This is a unique form that we have developed over 10 years in helping with the application process. Each template is reviewed carefully by our staff and the student editing to fine tune each segment putting focus on the student's strongest qualities.

We also create a resumé for each student to be used in the recommendation process. Teachers and community leaders who will be completing a student's recommendation will find the resumé helpful in presenting a more rounded picture of the student.
